New and exciting Hebrew words

Learn Hebrew online at the Rosen School

  • Words that Don’t Exist in English!

These words can't be simply translated to English… Try them out and see what they reveal!

    1. לפרגן (Lefargen) – Lefargen means to be happy and support someone else's success without any ulterior motives. It comes from Yiddish, and it's pretty unique to modern Hebrew.
    2. חוצפה (Chutzpah) – Have heard that one before? It even entered American English. Chutzpah means something like audacity, gall, and the courage to do something that's not commonly acceptable.
    3. תתחדש (Titchadesh) – This one is a kind of congratulations you say to someone who has something new in his life and you wish them to enjoy it. It literally means "get new," and you can say it to whoever has anything new: shirt, haircut, or even a house. Pretty useful!

There's so much more to this language you can learn! Enroll now in the Rosen School of Hebrew’s live online courses, and Titchadesh! You'll have a new language in no time!
