LeChaim to Hebrew!

Here are some unique Hebrew words that cannot be translated, but really give you a connection to Israeli culture:

1. Tachles (תכל'ס) - Israeli slang from a Yiddish variation of the Hebrew word for “purpose”. It means ‘get to the point’ or to agree with someone.
2. LeChaim (לחיים) - Many languages have special words for a toast. In English it's "cheers", in Spanish, "salud", and in Greek, "yamas". In many languages, the meaning of the toast is to “health”, but in Hebrew it is an all-encompassing wish – “to life”!
3. Titchadesh (תתחדש) - This expression literally means "get new," but Israelis say it to congratulate someone on something new and tell them to enjoy it. It can be for anything: shirt, haircut, or even a house. Pretty useful!
