    This is what you need

A good Israeli salad starts with good, fresh ingredients. We will make a dish that's a part of almost every meal in Israel: Salat Yerakot (סָלָט יְרָקוֹת) - a vegetable salad, finely chopped and full of flavor. What you'll need is:

    English Transliteration Hebrew
    1 Cucumber Melafefon מְלָפְפוֹן
    1 Tomato Agvania עַגְבָנִיָּה
    1 Red pepper Pilpel adom פִּלְפֵּל אָדֹם
    1/2 Onion Batzal בָּצָל
    Lemon Limon לִימוֹן
Olive Oil Shemen Zayit שֶׁמֶן זַיִת
    Salt Melach מֶלַח
Black pepper Pilpel Shachor ִפִּלְפֵּל שָׁחֹר

    Ready, Set, Cook!

Now that you have what you need all you have to do is Liktzoz (לִקְצֹץ), to chop the vegetables, Le’arbev (לְעַרְבֵּב) to mix it all in a bowl, Le’hosif (לְהוֹסִיף) to add a teaspoon of lemon juice, a few drops of olive oil and some salt and pepper. You'll see these verbs in every recipe, so now you can tackle them all with confidence!
