Plant a Hebrew seed

Learn Hebrew with the Rosen School

  • Making Israel flourish was a hard task…

About 140 years ago, a movement of Jewish people decided to return to their homeland, to the land of Israel, and rebuild their lives there. The first Zionists dreamt of founding their own country, but the challenges seemed insurmountable. There were swamps they had to dry up by planting eucalyptus trees. There was desert land that they had to plant seeds in and work hard to water to make it into fertile land, adama poriya (אדמה פוריה).

…But the hard work paid off!

It took a lot of dedication, but it was all worth it eventually! Today we see many Sadot (שדות), fields, everywhere around Israel. Fields of Chitta (חיטה), wheat, fields of Tiras (תירס), corn, and groves of Tapuzim (תפוזים) and Limonim (לימונים), oranges and lemons. The Israeli agricultural business today exports 2.5 billion dollars in different agricultural products, which are the result of that dream that started years and years ago.

The hard work and the resilience the first Zionists had was what eventually made this country into the paradise it is today.
